India has made it incredibly easy to apply for an eVisa, whether you’re living in the US or in any other country around the world. All you need to do is go to their eVisa portal, fill out your information, pay, and print your confirmation page to bring with you on your trip. However, before filling out the eVisa form, it’s important to be aware of everything that you’ll need in order to ensure that your application is approved and that your eVisa will be waiting at the airport upon arrival.
What is an eVisa?
An Electronic Visa (e-visa) is issued by a Government of India impaneled travel agency. The e-visas are available to citizens of 161 countries, who can apply and receive their visa approval electronically, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is simpler and quicker than other modes of visa processing. An advantage over ‘traditional’ visas is that there are no queues at airport immigration or application forms to fill out on arrival in India. Indian eVisa Online
Where can I get my travel itinerary?
You can obtain your travel itinerary from any airline that you have traveled with, or any travel agency that booked your trip. If you are traveling through a third party (such as a friend), you will need to check with them directly. You should be able to provide all of your departure information from when you bought your tickets, including arrival and departure airports, flight numbers, and carrier information.
What are all the documents I need?
To apply for an e-visa, you’ll need your passport, a credit or debit card, and a device with web access. Additionally, keep in mind that India requires tourists to carry proof of purpose of visit (tourist visa) and sufficient funds. If you can’t prove either item upon arrival at a port of entry, you might be denied entry or made to purchase a tourist visa on-site at a higher price.
Do I need to print my travel itinerary?
Upon successful application, you will receive a PIN number. Check your email regularly and ensure that you have typed your email address correctly. The Embassy of India will send your official visa application status within three working days from the date of application. If you have not received your Visa Status, please check with the given email-id again as it may take a day or two to come through due to spam blockers in ISPs and Corporate email servers.
How do I know if my application was successful?
If you successfully applied for your India visa, you’ll get a message from the government agency (the Bureau of Immigration or a similar organization). If you don’t get such a message and/or haven’t received your visa yet, it could mean one of two things: You didn’t apply correctly and need to try again, or something went wrong with your application. Either way, if your application was successful, you should be able to access it online in order to print it out and take it with you.
Do I have to submit extra documents with my application?
You do not need to submit any documents unless you require a travel authorization letter. These will be provided to you after your visa is approved. We recommend that you check with your airline in case they have specific requirements that they would like us to meet while issuing these letters. Please note that these will not be sent directly by us, but rather via email from our partners at VisaHQ or another designated service provider, who are experts in processing India Visa Application Passport Requirements. While it’s recommended that you apply for a visa well before your planned trip, we aim at making sure that all of our customers can experience our high-quality service regardless of their preferred method of application.
